Felt Question & Card Pics

So, I have a really great idea for an advent calendar, but I've never worked extensively with felt before. I'm just wondering, if I cut a shape out of felt, do I need to stitch around the edges or will the shape stay sharp (without fraying of any kind) without stitching? For example: if I cut out an ornament, but didn't stitch the edges, will it warp/fray with time?

Thanks in advance!

Zee Boyfriend Blanket

So for my boyfriends birthday I decided to make him something we could both share..

A T-Shirt Blanket!  Super, Super Easy to make

I got a bunch of old band shirts from bands we both liked sewed 'em all up.  Then, since I'm cheap and lazy...I went to the thrift store and bought a comforter for like $8.  Then I took the front off the comforter, modified it a little, and then sewed my panel of shirts on.  Like I said, very  easy!  And he loves it.  Plus it is very, very ,comfy.

Experiment

I'm just taking a break from the Christmas elfin merry making (i.e.crochet hell) to do something a little different just for today.  Experiment with macramé.  Behold--the chocker...Oooooo...Ahhhh...

It's a little plain I think.  I was wondering if I could figure out how to dangle something?  Like this?

Eh...work in progress.

Cable or not to cable? Rib or not to rib?

One very question heavy post, coming right up : )!

Like most knitters, I found a pattern and decided to adjust it to my own tastes. I decided this cabled sweater  would look adorable in black (I love black sweaters, and thought it would look oh-so-swanky when on my bike or under a jean jacket). So, I've quickly knit up the back and shoulders in the ribbed pattern that it demanded, and have hence started on the two front cabled panels. I have now come to the following conclusions about this:

1) The cables look awful; and
2) The yarn just doesn't look right!

I'm frogging the work right now, sad, but it must be done. Since it's a biking jacket for me (and yes, it's Shetland wool, I'll be nice and snuggly in that thing!) I'm thinking of taking the Skully intarsia sleeve pattern from the first Stitch n' Bitch book and slapping one on each chest panel. So, instead of cables on the two front panels, I am thinking of knitting up the two panels in stockinette stitch with about 3 inches on ribbing on the bottom, stockinette, then putting on the skulls on the chest panels, then finally going back to ribbing for the high collar.  However, this leads me to my question: Can the back of a sweater be in ribbing, while the front be in stockinette/ribbing? I don't want it to look weird, but I do love how ribbed sweaters hug my curves. I also don't want to frog the back either, as it's...well, a lot of work!

Any advice would be lovely : ).

Messenger Bags

I've been making and selling messenger bags for the past six months or so, and thought I'd share a few! Most of these were either commissioned, or were donated as prizes for local bike races.

Two pillows for mom

Hi everyone!!!

Been a while since I posted in here.
6 years ago, at the ripe young age of 19, I moved from southern CA to Philly in an effort to go to the Art Institute. During this time NO ONE from my family was ever able or willing to come visit me. I always had to go back home to see my parents and whom ever else. Well, the time has come. My mum is coming to visit for two weeks and is arriving this coming Sunday night. I'm so excited! This was kind of a last minute thing too cause I happen to be checking out ticket prices and got shocked when I seen flights for $243 ROUND TRIP! Mind you, sundays are considered peak days and thats the day she flies in, also she is coming on the 23rd which is considered Thanksgiving rush. Put all that together and normally you get a crazy $500+ ticket! Yah so I begged her to deal with the stress of flying and she said yes....YAY.

Ok, long story short, we bought a bed for the second bedroom so she had a nice place to lay her head, got new bedding and whatnot. Well, I wanted to add a little something nice for her, so I made these (pics were taken with my webcam as my regular cam is at my mother-n-laws house in NY):

Snuggles anyone? )
